~I dream of Lily~ series

Hello little pitter pattering Glamour Bunnies,
I thought Id give a *Sneak Peek* at what has to be my most Favorite project of all. Im begining a series of pin ups based on the alluring, mysterious, pinkness that is, code name "Lily of Opulence" on Twitter.

These paintings will be how I imagine Lily to be. A 1960s Sex kitten, alah Brigitte Bardot, Jayne Mansfield, or Sandra Setani. Wearing nothing but pink. Hair purrfectly sculpted like chocolate ice cream, adorned with tiny bows, pink sweet candy colored bows.

A positive-idealistic Glam Doll... the definition of a Glamour Bunnie ... Or in this case a Glamour/sex Kitten.

The first sketch shows the evolution of the design, outfit has changed. Hair and make up changed from the 50s to the 60s. Next photo is the final design, reversed and perfected. The final outfit, waist high leggings, rose petal pink.
The final photo is a detail shot of her face.

I hope all you Glamour Bunnies enjoy this, and keep a pretty swarovskicrystal eye out for more to come :D
xoxo-Xavier

Ps: Thank you Lily of Opulence for inspiring me with your fabulous, mysterious ways.

Four Portraits.

These four portraits were commissioned by a gal who works in an Antique shop that I love to shop at. Its called "The Antique Emporium." My favorite sections are the Vintage Jewlery, where I purchase alot of my brooches and hat pins. Aswell as the Record shop where Im steadily building up my collection of albums.

Now ... Where was I? Oh yeah these portraits. Now they are of nobody imparticular, but Im pretty sure just by looking at eachone you can decide for yourself just who inspired ... Perhaps youd be right ... Or perhaps not ;)

My absolute favorite is the Red Head no doubt. I love everything about her.

Do enjoy these pieces my Glamour Bunnies!!

Finally ... A break ...

...which that statement has to do with many things. Good and bad.
Lets indeed start with the good shall we?

Well back in January I was contacted via Twitter by Luis the Publisher of The Lingerie Journal, an online publication dealing in all things Lingerie, from new designers to the latest in Lingerie wear.

Luis noticed my pin-up art on my Twit-pic page, and asked to know more about myself and my Art. He also mentioned that he was interested in doing a Feature Story ... On Me and the art!!

It was super exciting to have this happen with in the past four months. Though the story hasnt run yet for I had last minute date change to photograph the art. Then Ive been super busy helping a few friends pack and move, which packing is done, all thats left is to move ... Six hour drive to Austin, Tx. Woot-woot!!!

Now Ive got all the last minute details for this feature story done, like answering about 11 very good questions ... Which to be honest wasnt easy at all to get done. One issue that kept me from concentrating on the Q&As was ... Dare I say ... A relationship issue. There I said it. Life threw me a curve ball during an important moment in my career as an Artist. It has definetly been a test, which Im still learning from. How well can I handle a career, doing something I love, then have it all come to a depressing hault because I grew to weak thinking about and trying to get a relationship to work that didnt work.

I slowly and with the help of a fantastic new friend, began to pick up the pieces. Which was so hard to do when all I wanted to do was sleep or hide in the local library, and avoid eating.

I must simplfy for time here, it is 3 or 4 in morning. Ive been up painting ;P

Things have gotten so much better with the relationship issue. The moving on process sure is hard as hell to do. You just have to push yourself, or with aid of energetic, wise friends listen to their good advice. Keep healthy, and talk about the things that are concerning you from this experience. At least one good friend is key and vital to the healing process.

Im falling asleep while wrting this out, clearly I must go to bed.
Wish I could explian more, Im pretty sure I left out alot or stopped clean off my original point. Lol

Good night/good morning Glammour Bunnies.
Xoxo

My baby boy ...

This is Wossum, he is my Artist Assistant. He likes to think he has a say in the Art, while he joyfully hops on to my painting table to add his opinion. Then just as fast as he jumped up there he is caught and put back on the floor. I playfully pat his behind & tell him, "no, no I think I got it undercontrol Wossum." He will in turn decide that I am not being fair in absolutly anyway. Therefore he expresses his anger by catching me off guard as he attacks my bare, sockless ankles. Like a fierce lion attacking a poor defenseless, limpy Gazelle.

I inturn react in a pre-meditated manner, where I reach to grab his favorite toy, a little mouse in leopard print on a string. I begin to wiggle it in front of him, as he releases my poor defenseless ankle, I fling the wee mouse. Wossum rushes after it ... After minutes pass and he has clearly won the fight with the toy mouse, he trots back. Happy and satisfied, he brings the mouse to me where we then repeat over and over . . . As I try to paint in between saving my ankles and saving my art from Wossum insisting he make changes.

Little progress

So far, Ive started her lips, and added a very subtle wash of tourqouis to the back ground. Also some very minor detail in her hair. Make up and her eyes will be next.

Leaving New Orleans . . .

Originally written on: August 13, 2010
I loved my experience getting to know New Orleans for almost two years. I knew it was perfect for me when I first stepped foot in the fantastic French Quarter. The Music still plays in my mind and heart. I can still here the bands playings, the horns, the drums, the Cajun twang filling the bouncy air that is New Orleans. I regret a teeny tiny bit that I didn't get to fully indulge everything about New Orleans and its hidden treasures. But I had a great time exploring what I could see and uncover the few times I visited The French Quarter. Seeing buildings that look like nothing on the outside, but as soon as you enter, its a Fabulous Art Gallery, that looks like an expensive Business Office, fit with sculptures made from stone, dancing bodies, covered in flowing fabric and wings. Or finding streets filled with shops filled with Antiques!

'An Artistic Expression for New Orleans' (here I began to write, the inner Poet I presume, has gotten out)
My heart was racing at the site of Beautiful furniture that seemed to be fit for a King and Queen. Boxes set on shelves with dust and price tags of expensive Detailed silver wear for dinner tables. Old Grand Father clocks, so old they seem very wise as they sit and tower over you. Delicate china sit untouched for years, as they wait patiently to be purchased along with their Glass paneled cabinet homes. Fur hats and Shawls made of Mink and Fox lay draped and seem to be sleeping peacefully until they're bought, wrapped up, and worn again, first time since the 1950s. Shiny Jewelry made from the 30s and 40s, sparkle and drip over their displays, catching your eyes as the minimal sunlight allows them to be seen, like a brief striptease.

Entertainingly enough that was just Two shops I had the opportunity to explore. It was heaven, completely divine Vintage Heaven.

" My heart will long to Come back, I can hear the Ghostly call of New Orleans echoing down the alley ways. Music Plays and haunts me, like a good Dream. I can hear it play and play endlessly but yet I can not find where its coming from. Someone once said, "Once she has got you, once you are enthralled by the Beauty, Thrill, and Joy, you are hers." New Orleans has got me, the only woman and last woman, to ever keep me coming back for more.
I will make my return to New Orleans one day, there is room enough in my heart for a few People, and you are one of them. "

Future Projects . . .

Dear Glamour Bunnies,

Im letting you in on a future series of Portraits . . . Im beginning Pin-up an Glamour style pieces of featured contestants on "LoGo's" hit series, "RuPauls Drag Race." Ive always been dazzled and amazed at Old Hollywood dames, how extravagent and over the top Glam that thy exude!! Then it hit me, I love Drag Queens, have always wanted todo drag, but nevr had the courage to do so. So the closest thing I have to Drag is my Art. Dressing up a woman, Hair, mkeup, lingerie, and OVER THE TOP GLAM-WEAR!!! Its as if I slip into another disguise everytime I develop a painting. I can say, its easier then Constructing myself as a living piece of Art, Im just in Jeans and a Tshirt . . . no time getting Dolled up. Though I wouldnt mind trying Drag ;D I think Id be a Beautiful Queen.

Manila Luzon rough draft 1
So here ara couple sneak-peaks of my Drag Queen works of Art. Im Starting off with Manila Luzon, shes so Gorgeous, defintly caught my eye.
Manila Luzon rough sketch 2

So these two pieces are Roughdrafts, or rough sketches . . . basically a study to get the facial features of a Particular model down, with every sketch the pieces begin to resemble the chosen Model more and more. Hope you all enjoyed this little "Presentation."

Goodnight Glamour Bunnies

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to Garza Pin-Ups Design!!

Hello Glamour Bunnies, that is a new term I have coined for the Pretty Ladies that enjoy my Art. Sort of my version of Lady Gagas's Little Monsters. I do believe it suits ;)

Now lets get down to business, this Blog has been created as a place to come an view my ever growing stacks of Pin-Up and Nudie Art. As well as a way to see what this little naughty Artiste has been up too . . . but I dont wanna get too personal . . . though as I type that I doubt myself, cause Im bound to post something that just urks me and is to Juicy not to share, though I may hold my tounge, I know better . . . "lets just see about that." Says my cat, Wossum.

My name is Xavier Z. Garza, Im a Pin-Up Artist. I love painting women, and always will. Ever since I was little I had been attracted to drawing women. From silly little nude stick figures, to the various portraits of The Spice Girls, to all things "girly." If it was cute and Pink or Glamourous in anyway, I wanted to draw it and  imagine it, have it in front of my eyes. When I was about 8 or 9, I was convinced I was going to become a Singer, singing had always been dream of mine a big passion, though I wasnt very good, I still thougt somehow my voice would, by the hands of God, be Miraculous!!!! . . . so much for that dream. I'd record my voice when I was younger, singing along to my favorite singers and groups of the time. The Spice Girls, Hanson, Jewel, and Selena. I was very proud of my little recording sessions (recording over my older sisters cassette tapes :P). My little dream of becoming a Singer was kept to myself, I would only sing in my Room, to my toys or an imaginary audience. I assumed my little concerts were private, as my mother and big sister were listening from the other side of the door. How rude, they didnt even pay . . . like my toy dinosaurs did.

My interest in art didnt fully manifest itself until about Junior High. My parents noticed me drawing more and more on my School Books and notebook paper. So they told me, "This paper is for Writing and this is for drawing." It helped, though I never payed attention to paper with lines again . . . :P I remember having to decided in 6th Grade what elective I wanted after choir, I wasnt a very good singer, so I went for the next best thing I enjoyed doing, Art. I would spend my every waking hour drawng to my little hearts content, by this time in JH, my mother bought me a calendar by Husband and Wife Artists, Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell. They were Fantasy artists, mermaids, dragons, serpents, goddess' and other worldy, ethereal women, strong and beautiful. That art was so fantastic, so that first calender sent me into the realm of Women as my subject for all my Art. Boris and Julies art taugt me about shading and lighting. How to draw an define the human body, to its most perfect physique. I learned about muscles, and how different parts of the body look from different angles. Also, snippets of my interest in fashion design started to show . . . though I didnt know it at the time.

Not only was my interest for art Amazonian women, I had another love to recreate with my eyes, a special little cartoon character, known as Betty Boop. Betty is where my interest in old Hollywood would spring from, but not for many years later. From 6th Grade to the beginning of Freshman year, I was known as "The one who draws Betty Boop." I would draw Betty, not just in her singnature Red Dress but I tried to modernize her in the Years fashions. My favorite singers/bands of the time were Britney Spears, No Doubt, Pink, and Shakira, so Betty Boop was dressed to their equations.

Betty Boop and Fantasy Art were my main interests in Art till about mid way through High School. In 2004, when Martin Scorsese's "The Aviator" came out, I was introduced to Jean Harlow. She was the first Starlette to catch my eye, and I wanted to draw nothing but Jean Harlow. As the the months went on, and I continued to re watch "The Aviator" my interest in Jean only fueled my Artistic Passion in Old HollyWood and its Glamour. I was entranced and in love. Around the time that Jean Harlow came into my life, I was also introduced to another Artist's work, one who would change my Artistic course for the next years of my Life.

Her name is Olivia De Berardinis. She is the High Priestess of Pin-Up Art. I first saw her work in PlayBoy Magazine, my Best friend, Dannie and I would look through her dads stash of PlayBoys, the first thing Id turn to was the Olivia page. I wanted to draw like her. I wanted to set out and create Art like hers. I set out to conquer the Pin-Up world with my Versions of classic beauties. With studying Olivias pin-ups, and as years went on I discovered the work of Classic Pin-Up Artists, like Vargas, who I knew of. George Petty, and Gil Elvgren, my soul became alive and I wanted to make art just like them, so here I am so far, with my first real big collection of Pin-Ups I started in 2009. Never giving up, still practicing and still going, trying to get the world to notice this Pin-Up Artist.

More to come Glamour Bunnies . . . I need to go home and eat . . . and read . . . and sleeeep.

Bye ;)
