~Two Lovelies in Progress~

Dear Glammour Bunnies,

Today I thought I'd share two pin-ups, One is a work in progress. The other was completed and  done for my Father for Fathers Day. So, let's get to it!

Pin-Up #1: Portrait of Perle Noire.
Perle Noire pencil drawing.
The first photo I have shown above is a detail shot of a drawing done in pencil. I'd show the whole image on here but I don't want to risk the image being "stolen" and duplicated else where. So to be safe a detail shot will be supplied. This drawing is 18" x 24" in paper. The original will be forsale at $300. If interested email garzapinups@gmail.com

Detail shot: Perle Noire painting
In the second photo above I have shown is a detail shot of what is to be the final painting completed in color with Watercolors. I have so far begun adding in paint very lightly, starting with applying a light outline with Burnt Sienna and then putting in light washes/layers of Burnt Sienna. Once there is an even coat, I will begin to apply Burnt Umber for her beautiful skin tone.
Half full shot: Perle Noire painting.
The third photo above is a half full shot of the painting. Her final outfit was going to be all black lingerie but her perfomances and costumes are so colorful and lively that I thought, "Why Shouldn't her lingerie be the same?" The final painting will be forsale when completed, prices to come.

Pin-Up #2: Happy Fathers Day!

Detail shot: Fathers Day Pin-Up.
For the first photo above it is a shot of the first rough draft or sketch for a painting I did for my father, a retired Marine. The girl will be wearing a camo-top. Most drawings end up this way, very loose and not much filled in, shading wise. No reason really, if they get completed into a full drawing so be it, if it stays a loose line drawing such as this, no worries. Really the final painting is the goal usually for me.

Note to Self!
Alot of my sketches for future paintings usually have many notes like this all around the paper. "Note to Self," as I call 'em. They're main purpose is to remind me that there still needs to be things worked out before I start the painting. Such as "Shoes or no shoes?, Will she be Blonde or Brunette? Lengthen legs a bit or Bust Bigger." Get the picture? . . . . (small pun?)

Detail Shot: Marine Pin-Up
Third in the line-up, the painting was completed as a loose-fast study. Done in a few hours, most paintings take days to finish or even weeks! Depending on how my schedule is.

Half shot: Finished.

Here she is, all done. Wearing nothing but a camo-top and twinkle in her eye. "Happy Fathers Day!" My father loved it, this is my first painting to him. He deserves it, he's been a wonderful encouragment to me and my career. The greastest Man I know.

There you go my Glammour Bunnies, some behind the scenes snapshots into the progress of how a "Garza Pin-Up" is created. Love you all!

One quick pin-up

Hello Glamour Bunnies!!
I am trying to organize my weblife and make it more simple to get around and share things. Basically trying to have one place where I can post, share, and communicate with ya'll about the my art.

I was trying to have an Official Website going but that little experiment failed. So I tryed using Tumblr, and then FaceBook . . . but Im trying to take advice given seriously here and have a more professional way of displaying my work. Its hard, I was very excited about the mock-up/website I saw that was shown to me, but sadly that didn't work out and I wasn't briefed on how to update the site on my own or how to create it, add on, etc. So now Im looking into some other options, at the moment Blogger is helpful and some people have already come across it on Google so I guess this will have to do for now.

Here is one extra photo for ya'll to see and be happy with till Im able to find a way and share more work and step by steps. Love you all.

The thoughts of this Artist . . .

Dear Glammour Bunnies,

Art is no lie, it is truth . . . actually Art can be a lie. I suppose either one of those statements I made is true for who ever believes so. I am one of those that has to write out what is inside them, it makes sense to me as I can gt the words out. I say over and over that I will try not to let personal issues get in the way of my sharing my artwork with you all, but whatever happens in my life be it Good or Bad will effect my abbilities to create. If Im sad or unhappy, I paint and think it out, sometimes over thinking things. I used to be able to block things out and just paint but I dont anymore, not sure why. I can paint when Im happy, I draw with a smile on my face and in my heart, I cant wait to finish the piece Im working on and I cant wait for everything else I will be doing next.

One flaw, one tiny, little flaw that I wish I knew how to control, and I usually, normally do . . . Its nice to find that strength that lifts me out of whatever hideous, cloak that is wearing me down. I dislike the way the unhappiness creeps up out of nowhere and Im left trying to figure out where it all went wrong and how the hell am I going to get out of it?

*On a not so clear mind I will repeat myself alot, so bear with me, its usually due to me trying to re-word things to make sense to myself.*

I, like many others in the world, (I am assuming) happen to become very depressed at times, sometimes heart breakingly depressed, as if there is no way in hell that anything will turn for the better. My Life seemed to be great, for myself the last month, I got a new job, that lasted about a month? I cant remember it was fast. I liked it, I really did, it was an easy job to do for a local diner, good pay every friday, not enough but guranteed money every week. I felt that everything was in place for me, I have a car, (that works, but I couldnt use yet for it needed minor work done.) I have a bike that I use often, I've had a couple of art shows lined up. I had some responsibities that made me a grownup and Im virtually on my own. I felt great about my life.

My mother moved away about two weeks ago. She was here for about 9 months, "visiting". The morning she left, just happend to be my last day at work . . . It sucked. I am now living in a mess, seeing that I am basically alone I dont clean up as much and I just leave junk lying around, "Who's to get after me?? I can leave dishes in the sink. My clothes are fine on the floor." I've gotten incredibly lazy and terribly alone . . .

My Boyfriend has had a very rough year . . . We are both looking for work, we both have cars that dont work, we both have bikes, though mine works and his doesnt . . . anymore. I can tell he is just as depressed as myself. Fortunetly, he has the ability to be stronger in a situatuion like this . . .

As of right now, I have stopped to think to myself,  I am torn between wanting to lay in be all day and not care anymore or wanting to tell myself everything will be okay!! Everthing is fine, you just need to move foward and not give up. You have a roof over your head, food and clothes and a bike, oh and lots of art supplies.

more to come . . . Im betting tht everything will get better soon again , , ,

Step-by step process

Dear Glammour Bunnies,

Here is a piece I have been working on for a while now. My love for 1960s Fashion, PlayBoy and Hair have always had an influence in my Art. So here I am going to share with you the process of this piece. The above photo is the first watercolor study I have done. The orginal pose was the girl standing up, but since my watercolor paper I had was not long enough, I was instructed to change the position of her legs. So now she is kneeling.

Here is the first photo of the final painting to be, I have started to apply her skin tone.

This is an uplcose photo of her face, I have begun to place the first layers of aint for her face/makeup.

Her make-up is almost complete. There is some final detail needed, like her lashes and some highlighting in her face. I have taken a break, and begun to paint her hair.

So here is just a bit of the process in this painting, more to come as the piece is worked on.

Hope you all enjoy!!

Dreaming of being in Playboy . . . like Vargas.

Dear Glammour Bunnies,

Did you know that my interest and desire to do pin-up began when I came across a painting of Bettie Page by the ever great Olivia? It was in Playboy magazine, my bestfriend's father would get the magazine in the mail, and we would open it from its plastic wrapper and flip through the pages and look at the pretty girls but my favorite part of the whole magazine was to always look for the Olivia pin-up and rip it out . . . before her father got to the magazine. My interest in pinup grew more and more as I came across her books and then back to the master, Alberto Vargas.

My interest in Playboy also grew, since pin-up is the basis of many of the images and photos in the magazine. I found and endlss array of models and ideas. My favorite women to study from were the models from early palyboy, 50s and 60s playmates and bunnies. My dream to once take over the throne of Olivia grew and started me off in a realm in which I felt comfortable and ever so happy to create art. It felt right.

I dreamt of creating beautiful women that Mr. Hefner would love and caption . . . Im am very happy so far with my career, I would change nothing about my start, if I never make it to Playboy magazine, its okay because I know that Olivia, Vargas- and Playboy started me off in a path all my own.

Here I present to you two pieces with captions of their veryown, coined by me. (Sidenote: If you notice a caption that is similar to one in Playboy, please let me know and I will change it. Please provide visual proof. thankyou. )

"It's been a long night . . . care for a night cap Mr. Jones?"

"You seem exhausted Mr. Jones, would you like to relax?"

sketch of my Mother. ". . . My pair of Gloves Mr. Jones. What did you think I said?"

I hope you like what I've done with the captions and all, I am still thinking of more clever and charming ones. I am not to fond of the last caption, I am sue I can change it later on.

Love to you all Glammour Bunnies.
